LEAD CARPENTER/PROJECT MANAGER

This position is primarily responsible for on-site management and carpentry of residential remodeling projects and reports to the Production Manager. In addition to performing carpentry labor, full coordination required of all job specs, plans, change orders as well as management of subcontractors hired by our company. Integral to achieving our goals of superior product quality and customer service.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • On-site manager of residential remodeling projects coordinating project plan, material arrivals, subcontractor schedules while understanding all job specs, plans, change orders
  • Perform all carpentry labor on the job, manage subcontracted labor including assigning work, ensuring high quality performance, and general supervision/communication
  • Order all materials, ensure timely deliveries, manage/communicate delays impacting production schedule
  • Responsible for safety/security of residential properties through project completion
  • Participate in pre-construction conferences, regular quality control assessments and all client communications including collection of progress and final payments
  • Daily intensive phone/email/text communications with Production team, clients, subcontractors and other stakeholders to confirm/change appointments, ensure the highest customer service experience and delivery of commitments in a timely, professional manner
  • Ability to effectively organize, plan, analyze and compose production schedules that optimize the capacity and skill set of subcontractors while meeting customer demand at the highest service levels
  • Create subcontractor purchase orders/agreements, ensure all supplies receipts are submitted electronically for all jobs assigned, confirm accuracy of subcontractor invoices
  • Intake/report on/execute resolution of warranty and punch list items
  • Work with customer service at all levels to resolve all production and service issues
  • Ability to understand the financial impact on the business with regard to this position
  • Attend Production team meetings to update/inform Production team on scheduling, customer requests, and progress/issues on job sites

 

Qualifications:


Education and/or Experience:


  • 5+ years of consecutive experience in LEAD CARPENTRY/ SUPERVISING
  • CSL Required
  • Eligible to legally work in the US
  • Fluent in English -- speaking, reading, and writing
  • Must provide own carpenter tools

  • Fluency in written and verbal English (bilingual Spanish or Portuguese a plus)
  • Able to perform and analyze financial calculations
  • Demonstrated independent work initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy, analytical ability and professional appearance and demeanor

Knowledgeable in:

  • Carpentry from framing to finish
  • Calculating material orders
  • Demolition
  • Installation of metal and wood doors including hardware
  • Installation of cabinets
  • Patching and painting
  • Finish wood trim


Physical Demands/Work Environment:


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Extensive phone and use of carpenter tools on site
  • Daily attendance Monday-Friday on job sites in metro-west residences around Boston, MA (occasional weekend coverage may be required but rarely)
